Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Douglas Scott
Dr Douglas Scott completed his medical degree at the University of Otago and specialist cardiology training at Greenlane Hospital, before undertaking a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC.
On returning to New Zealand, he was closely involved in establishing interventional cardiology services at Middlemore Hospital for South Auckland, and has also contributed to the development of the regional pacemaker service. Dr Scott has served as an investigator in more than 30 device and pharmaceutical clinical trials and has been actively involved in teaching and supervising many advanced cardiology trainees.
His clinical expertise includes the management of coronary artery disease, cardiac device therapy, heart failure, and valvular heart disease.

Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Sergej Cicovic
Dr Sergej Cicovic is a New Zealand-trained specialist in Cardiology and Cardiac Interventions. He grew up in Auckland and completed his studies at the University of Auckland. After graduating he completed his cardiology training, being awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Sergej undertook his subspeciality training at Auckland, North Shore, and Middlemore Hospital before being accepted at the prestigious Toronto General Hospital. He became the first formally trained Cardiac High-risk Interventionalist in Canada and New Zealand and helped to develop this new field. He has developed significant expertise in advanced coronary artery disease treatments and managing critically unwell patients.
Sergej began as a consultant at Waikato Hospital before becoming an Interventional Cardiologist at Auckland City Hospital. He has been the author of several publications and a speaker at multiple international conferences.

Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Andrew Borrie
Dr Andrew Borrie graduated from Otago University before undergoing cardiology training at Wellington hospital, with a fellowship in complex coronary intervention and intravascular imaging. Following on from this, he undertook a second fellowship in coronary intervention at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney to further his skills, before returning to Auckland.
Dr Borrie has performed over 1,000 coronary interventions, is involved in international clinical trials and has made multiple publications and conference presentations. Particular areas of interest include cholesterol, intracoronary imaging and sheathless guide catheters. As well as working at Allevia Cardiology Dr Borrie also works at Middlemore hospital and teaches medical students and cardiology trainees.
Dr Borrie is passionate about healthy living, exercise and holistic patient care and outside of work enjoys crossfit, swimming and running.

Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Patricia Ding
Dr Patricia Ding completed her medical degree at the University of Otago, followed by specialist training in Cardiology in Auckland. After finishing her local Interventional Cardiology training in 2015, she undertook a second fellowship at the renowned Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in the UK, further advancing her expertise in complex coronary interventions.
Patricia currently holds dual roles as an Interventional Cardiologist at Middlemore Hospital and at Allevia Cardiology. Her clinical interests include the management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and heart failure.

General Cardiologist/Physician
Dr Patrick Gladding
Patrick is dual trained in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He completed his Cardiology training at the Greenlane Cardiovascular Service, Auckland, and has been a practising cardiologist since 2007. He undertook a Fellowship in Advanced Imaging at the Cleveland Clinic, USA, in 2010.
In addition to his work at Allevia Cardiology, Patrick is also employed as a cardiologist at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. He has expertise in cardiac imaging, personalised healthcare and angiography, and in 2013 he completed a PhD in cardiovascular medicine. He enjoys helping patients with the use of innovative technologies and the latest developments in genomic medicine, whereby information about an individual’s genetic makeup can be utilised to tailor treatment specifically to the patient. He is the founder of Theranostics Laboratory.

Cardiologist
Dr Selwyn Wong
Selwyn was born and raised in Christchurch and studied medicine at Otago Medical School, completing his junior doctor years in Auckland. He trained in cardiology at Green Lane Hospital, achieving his specialist qualification in 1998, before undertaking a cardiology research and clinical fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle.
He returned to New Zealand in 2001 to take up a full-time consultant cardiology role at Middlemore Hospital, where he later served as Head of Department for eight years until 2022. Selwyn has also held national and international leadership positions, including Chair of the NZ Cardiology Training Committee, inaugural Chair of the NZ Imaging Committee, and immediate past Chair of the NZ Branch of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ).
He has recently completed six years on the CSANZ Board in Australia. Selwyn is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, CSANZ, the American College of Cardiology, and the European Society of Cardiology.
In private practice since 2003, Selwyn is currently Clinical Director of Allevia Cardiology at Allevia Hospital Ascot. While subspecialist trained in echocardiography, he manages the full spectrum of general cardiology, including preventative cardiology, coronary disease, valve disease, and heart failure, with a particular interest in sports cardiology. He values the opportunity to care for patients across both public and private sectors.

General and Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Tim Glenie
Dr Glenie completed his medical degree at Auckland University having attended Kings College in Auckland for his secondary school education. He then completed his FRACP in Internal Medicine in 2008 before starting Cardiology training at Greenlane Hospital. Dr Glenie is interested in both coronary artery intervention as well as advanced cardiac imaging techniques involving cardiac MRI. He completed an advanced imaging fellowship programme at Greenlane Hospital involving cardiac MRI and cardiac CT scanning. Having finished this he then completed a coronary interventional fellowship at Greenlane Hospital.
Tim then had the opportunity to work with internationally recognised cardiologist Dr Stephen Worthley at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. Here Dr Glenie was involved in clinical trial work with Cardiac MRI, coronary angioplasty and percutaneous aortic valve implantation.
More recently Dr Glenie has been working as an interventional cardiologist in Dunedin Public Hospital and was a senior clinical lecturer for the Otago Medical School. In 2015 he and his partner have moved back to Auckland and he is working at North Shore Hospital and Allevia Hospital Ascot as a general and interventional cardiologist with an interest in cardiac MRI.

Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Niels van Pelt
Dr Niels Van Pelt is a consultant cardiologist with expertise in cardiac imaging and general cardiology. He completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Auckland before undertaking advanced fellowship training in cardiac imaging at the renowned Thorax Center, Erasmus University, in the Netherlands.
Dr Van Pelt has held consultant positions at Middlemore Hospital and, since 2022, at Auckland City Hospital. He has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, reflecting his strong contributions to the field of cardiac imaging. His leadership roles include serving as the former Chair of the Cardiac Imaging Working Group for the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ, NZ) and as a member of the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA).
He is actively involved in the supervision and training of cardiology registrars and fellows, and has co-directed several Level A CTCA training courses.

Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Dr Shawn Foo
Dr Shawn Foo is a Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist with broad international experience across the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. He completed his medical degree at the University of Liverpool (UK) and postgraduate training in Manchester, before working at the National Heart Centre in Singapore. In 2014, he relocated to New Zealand, where he has held roles in several major public hospitals, including North Shore, Auckland City, and Middlemore.
Dr Foo has a specialist interest in cardiac electrophysiology and has authored 15 peer-reviewed publications in the field. In 2020, he was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Electrophysiology and is currently undertaking a Doctor of Medicine (MD) focused on the use, implant trends, and outcomes of cardiac implantable electronic devices in New Zealand. His clinical expertise was further strengthened through an 18-month fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Dr Foo provides high-quality care to a diverse patient population, helping patients and their families make well-informed decisions about their treatment.

Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Dr Andy Gavin
Andy obtained his medical degree from Glasgow University and completed his general cardiology training in the UK before coming to New Zealand as a fellow training in electrophysiology (heart rhythm disturbances) at Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Cardiovascular Services.
He then undertook an additional two-year fellowship at the renowned Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide, Australia), sub-specializing in all aspects of electrophysiology including different types of pacemakers, and other implantable cardiac devices, as well as radiofrequency ablations (invasive electric treatment) of rhythm disturbances.
Andy leads the Electrophysiology Service at North Shore Hospital, Waitemata District Health Board.
